We recently completed a bathroom upgrade for a customer in Radcliffe-on-Trent, replacing their outdated concealed shower with a modern thermostatic bar shower. The project also included fitting brand new wall panels, transforming the entire shower area into a fresh, contemporary space.

The Client's Requirements

Our client contacted us because their existing concealed shower unit had become unreliable. The temperature control was inconsistent, making showering uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. They wanted a modern thermostatic shower that would provide consistent water temperature and improved functionality.

During our initial consultation, we discussed the various options available. After assessing their needs and bathroom layout, we recommended a thermostatic bar shower. This style of shower not only offers superior temperature control but also provides a sleek, contemporary appearance that would complement their bathroom perfectly.

Why Choose A Thermostatic Bar Shower?

Thermostatic bar showers offer significant advantages over older concealed units. The thermostatic valve maintains water temperature automatically, even when water pressure fluctuates elsewhere in the property. This means no more sudden temperature changes when someone uses a tap or flushes a toilet.

We explained to our client that thermostatic showers also provide an important safety feature. If the cold water supply fails, the thermostatic valve automatically shuts off the hot water, preventing scalding. This makes them particularly suitable for family homes.

The exposed bar design also makes future maintenance much simpler. Unlike concealed units that require access through tiles or panels, bar showers can be serviced easily without major disruption to the bathroom.

Installation Process…

Removing The Old Concealed Unit

Our first task was carefully removing the existing concealed shower. We isolated the water supply and drained the system before beginning the dismantling process. The old unit was recessed into the wall, so we needed to work methodically to avoid damaging the surrounding structure.

We carefully removed the old wall panels and assessed the condition of the pipework behind them. In some cases, concealed units can hide problems with pipes or wall surfaces, so we always inspect thoroughly before proceeding with new installations.

With the old shower removed, we prepared the area for the new thermostatic bar shower. We checked that the existing hot and cold water supplies were in good condition and positioned correctly for the new unit.

Our team made any necessary adjustments to the pipework, making sure everything was properly aligned and secure. We also reinforced the mounting points where the bar shower would be fitted, guaranteeing it would be stable and safe for years to come.

Pipework Modifications

Installing a bar shower requires precise measurements and positioning. We carefully measured and marked where the shower fittings would sit, taking into account the height preferences of our client and making sure the shower head would provide optimal coverage.

We modified the pipework as needed, using quality materials and fittings throughout. All our plumbing work is carried out to the highest standards, meeting all current regulations and building codes.

Installing The Thermostatic Bar Shower

Once the preparation was complete, we fitted the new thermostatic bar shower. We mounted the bar securely to the wall, connected it to the modified pipework, and carefully installed all the components including the thermostatic valve, shower head, and any additional features the client had chosen.

We tested the shower thoroughly, checking water pressure, temperature consistency, and the operation of all controls. We adjusted the thermostatic settings to deliver the perfect temperature and demonstrated the safety features to our client.

Fitting New Wall Panels

With the shower successfully installed and tested, we turned our attention to fitting the new wall panels. Modern shower panels provide an excellent alternative to tiles, offering a waterproof, low-maintenance surface that looks fantastic.

We precisely measured and cut the panels to fit the shower area perfectly. Each panel was carefully positioned and secured, with all joints properly sealed to prevent any water ingress. The clean lines and smooth surface of the panels created a contemporary look that completely transformed the shower space.

Final Touches

After fitting the wall panels, we cleaned the entire area thoroughly, removing any dust or debris from the installation. We conducted a final inspection of all our work, checking every connection and seal to make sure everything was perfect.

We showed our client how to operate their new thermostatic shower, explaining the controls and safety features. They were delighted with the transformation. The shower area looked modern and stylish, and the thermostatic control delivered a consistently comfortable showering experience.

Our customer in Radcliffe-on-Trent now enjoys a reliable, safe shower system with a beautiful contemporary finish.
